Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm men's soccer team took the field at home, Saturday, September 10, to face the #4 ranked Mercyhurst Lakers. The Storm would fall 3-0 by the end of the match, dropping their record to 1-3-1 on the season so far.
The first half was a nail-biter in Painesville. Lake Erie hung in there with the highly ranked Lakers, breaking on on runs and getting good looks at shots and it appeared like it was only a matter of time before something would give and the Storm would score.
The Lakers would be the first to score though, putting a goal past Austin Snowden at the 35:14 mark. This would be the final goal either side would score during the remainder of the first half, giving Mercyhurst a 1-0 lead.
Lake Erie would not be able to keep up in the second half, surrendering two more goals and ultimately falling to the Lakers 3-0.
Six yellow cards were issued in the second half as both teams fought hard despite the lopsided score.
The Storm will return to action on Wednesday, September 14 on the road against Northwood at 1:00 PM before returning home to face Trevecca Nazarene on September 17.
