Box Score PHILIPPI, W. Va -- The Storm women's soccer team traveled to Alderson Broaddus University to take on the Battlers for their second non-conference game of the season. The teams battled it out, and finished with a 1-1 tied score. This brings the Storm to a 1-0-1 record, and the Battlers to a 0-0-1 record.
The first half remained 0-0 throughout, with several strong shots from Storm's freshman Kim Lorenz, sophomore Rahel Lang, and senior Skyler Crane. The Battlers had a few shots of their own, yet neither team could put the ball away.
The second half started off with a save from starting senior goalie, Megan Biddell at 47:54. This save gave the Storm some momentum, which resulted in a goal by sophomore Jillian Newlan at 49:06. This marks Newlan's second goal of the season. Senior Emilie Coyne recorded a shot at 54:06, yet it was saved by the Battlers' goalie. The Battlers responded with a goal of their own at 66:35, to tie it up 1-1. Freshman Ainsley McKenzie put up a fight with three consecutive shots, but could not best the Battlers' goalie. Senior Krista Harbart took a shot of her own at 84:54 in attempts to take the lead, but it was saved yet again. The clock ran out with the 1-1 draw finalizing the match.
The Storm return to their home field on Sunday, September 4 to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins.
