#15 Lake Erie Comes Back to Hold Off #4 UIndy, 2-2

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The #15 ranked Lake Erie College Storm men's soccer team took the field Thursday night, August 25 in Columbus, Ohio to kick off their season. They would face a tough opponent with #4 ranked UIndy and would end the match with a 2-2 draw.

It would be all Greyhounds in the first half as they would set the tone early, scoring just three minutes into the match. 

UIndy would extend their lead at the 24:50 mark in the first half and give the Storm an early 2-0 deficit to come back from.

And come back they would…

As 25:29 remained in the second half, the Storm would strike for the first time in the game, with a goal by senior Fabian Kiessetz on a corner kick assist from reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Freshman of the Year, Teddy Baker.

With 11:24 remaining in the match, Connor Mautino would make things interesting and tie things up at 2-2 with help from Tomas Fernandez, allowing Lake Erie to breathe and fight down until the final minutes.

With the newly implemented NCAA rules, the match would forgo any overtime periods and the game would end in a 2-2 tie with the Storm holding theirs against UIndy.

Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday, August 27 in Columbus again as they take on the McKendree Bearcats.
