Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pennsylvania - After a tough series on Tuesday at Mercyhurst, the Lake Erie softball program continued a mid-season Pennsylvania road trip as they matched up with the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. The Storm played well in both contests but would split the series. The Storm took Game 1, and Lock Haven would win Game 2 in a dramatic fashion. The games went as follows:
Lake Erie 2, Lock Haven 1
In Game 1, it took a while for both teams to find their groove. Lake Erie found theirs in the 4th as Chloe Allen would lead off with a double. She would then steal third. CJ Garcia would follow that up with another double to bring Allen around and give the Storm an initial lead. Lock Haven would tie it back up in the 5th, but the third double of the day for the Storm off the bat of Dani Soria would break the deadlock in the 7th to give the Storm a 2-1 win. Grace Hammer also pitched well in this contest as she allowed just 4 hits and logged 9 strikeouts.
Lock Haven 4, Lake Erie 3
In Game 2, Lock Haven would take the initial advantage going up 2-0 in the 2nd. Cheyenne Hamel would double in the 5th to bring in Soria, Chloe Allen would then add a single to bring around Ham to even the score. The deadlock then held until a Rachel Varga home run in the 7th gave the Storm a slight edge. Unfortunately, Lock Haven would add 2 runs in the final inning and w0n the game on a walkoff double 4-3. Despite the loss, Bridget Mullholand and Carly Rowland would both pitch well. Mullholand got the start for the Storm, and Rowland would add 3 strikeouts after she came in as a reliever in the 5th inning.
Lake Erie will look forward to getting to play back at home as they resume GMAC play on Friday, April 8th at 3 pm when the Ursuline Arrows make the short trip from Pepper Pike to Painesville.
