Box Score PAINESVILLE – The Lake Erie College Storm men's basketball team took down the Cedarville Yellow Jackets Feb. 9, 84-81 in Painesville, Ohio. The victory marks the Storm's third consecutive win and improves their record to 11-9 and 5-8 in conference play.
The matchup was fought tightly throughout the night, with the Storm pulling away in the second half until the very end. The Storm were able to knock down twelve three-pointers in the game including an impressive four by Leon Hughes who contributed a career-high 22 points in the contest.
Lake Erie was known for its efficiency down the stretch, shooting 53.1% (17-32) from the field and 46.7% (7-15) from beyond the arc.
On the night, the Storm would have five players score in double digits: Leon Hughes (22), Jackson Burdyshaw (15), Jordan Burton (14), Kevin Peterson (12), and Jacob Plantz (11).
The Storm currently sit at seventh place in the conference, four games behind Cedarville for the 6th and final tournament seed. With six games remaining in the season, they will have their work cut out for them if they wish to make a run.
Lake Erie will be back in action on Feb. 12 at 1:00 PM at home against Ohio Dominican for senior night.
