Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. - As the women's basketball season winds to a close, the Lake Erie College women's basketball team took their final road trip of the year as they headed down to the Owensboro Sportscenter to face the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers. Despite some strong play across the board for the Storm, they would fall by a score of 84-40.
The first half was certainly the brighter of the two halves for the Storm. They would fall behind early in the first quarter. However, a surge of offensive output from Lainey Billing and Breanna Bauer at the end of the first and into the second quarter would bring the Storm within 5 as the game approached the halftime break. The scoreboard would read 30-22 entering the half favoring the Panthers.
The second half would see the Storm struggle to keep pace with Kentucky Wesleyan offensive attack. Despite some strong defensive plays from both Angela Fink and CC Carey, the Storm would be behind by a score of 57-33 entering the fourth.
The final period featured a common move for coach Perttu's squad this season as they went deeper into their bench in order to bring themselves back into the game. Anna Ibos and Shalaya Heath would play well in the quarter, but it was not quite enough to overcome the Panthers. In the end, the Storm would fall by a score of 84-40.
Statistically, the numbers paint a very familiar picture for the Storm. Breanna Bauer led the way with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Lainey Billing was able to put up an impressive 8 points, 6 points and 3 assists. CC Carey would add 6 points, 2 rebounds and an assist off the bench. Lauren Flannery would also put in 5 points and 3 rebounds.
