PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie Storm women's basketball team defeated the Cedarville Yellow Jackets for their first conference win of the season by a score of 75-70. Lake Erie persevered after a first half deficit to top the Yellow Jackets in a fourth quarter thriller. 

The Storm raced back late in the game with a couple of key defensive stops after applying some full court pressure. Lake Erie shot an impressive 48.2% from the field for the day while holding the Yellow Jackets to a 39.1% shooting stint. Lake Erie also shot incredibly from the stripe making 18-22 crucial foul shots. Lake Erie dominated Cedarville in the paint scoring 46 of their 75 points in the key. 

Senior guard Sydney Wyngarden and senior guard Angela Fink led the way for the Storm with key contributions throughout the contest. Fink posted a career high in assists with 12 which was also a game high. Fink finished the day with a double-double posting 12 assists and 11 points in 38 minutes of play. Wyngarden also posted a double-double, dropping 16 points, 10 boards, and two steals on the day playing a team high 39 minutes. Sophomore guard Aislyn Hurst also added 17 points while senior forward Abby Matalavage contributed 19 points for Lake Erie.

The Storm look to continue their impressive early season Thursday December 8, at 5:30 PM in Canton, Ohio as they take on the Malone Pioneers for another inner conference matchup.
