Storm End Season with Final Four Loss to Franklin Pierce

Box Score

SEATTLE – The Lake Erie College Storm men's soccer team faced off against the #1 seeded Franklin Pierce Ravens in the Final Four round of the 2022 NCAA DII Men's Soccer tournament on December 1. The Storm would fight valiantly in the first half, but a huge second half from the Ravens would hand Lake Erie a 5-2 loss.

Coming into this match, the Cinderella story Storm team had surprised the country after knocking off top-ranked opponent after top-ranked opponent. Franklin Pierce, the heavily favored team to win it all from the beginning would be no easy task for the Lake Erie squad but morale was high going into the match.

The Ravens threatened early, but the Storm defense would hold, giving the impression that this game might come down to the wire. Franklin Pierce would however manage to get on the board first in the 31st minute and later tack on one more before the half to give them a commanding 2-0 lead.

The second half would not go in The Storm's favor though as they surrendered three more goals. Lake Erie would continue to fight though and despite the deficit would manage to get two goals of their own by Connor Mautino and Teddy Baker.

The loss ends the Storm's incredible run and will go down as one of the most memorable seasons in school history. They finish with a record of 12-8-5 with season highlights that included numerous season awards that continue to pile up, and school records that were shattered.
