Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm football team traveled on the road on Saturday, October 29 to face the Findlay Oilers. The game was tight to start, but Findlay's strong second half was enough to top the Storm, 42-17.
After the defense forced Findlay to punt after six plays on offense, the Storm would get the ball for their first drive of the game and promptly took the early lead after a three-play, 34-second drive that ended with Gerald Gardner finding Jovohn Tucker for a 27-yard touchdown.
The Lake Erie defense would hold again the next possession but on their next offensive drive they would turn it over on downs and the Oilers would end up tying things up on their following possession.
Findlay would take the lead about halfway through the second quarter and Nathan Tager would knock in a 29-yard field goal before the end of the half to cut the Oiler lead to 14-10.
With the momentum on Lake Erie's side, a frustrated Oiler team would let the Storm march down the field in just over a minute to begin the second half, with Keep Kpoto punching it in for a 2-yard touchdown and giving them a 17-14 lead.
This would be all they would be able to score the remainder of the contest as they tried to get back in the game but would fail to convert on fourth down multiple times, leading to Findlay stacking on the points and finishing with a 42-17 victory.
Gerald Gardner would go 25-42 on the day for 344 yards while Peyton Brown would lead all receivers with 190 catches for 115 yards. Nate Dantley would also haul in a 103 yards of his own and is now 50 yards shy of breaking the all-time career receiving yards record set by Brandon James.
The win takes the Storm's record to 3-6 on the season and a 3-4 conference record. Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday, November 4 at home to face the Ashland Eagles at 4:00 PM.
