Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio — The Storm women's soccer team competed in their last GMAC match of the year, completing their 2022 season. The Storm could not combat the Eagles, falling 0-5. The Storm finish their season with at 1-14-2 record.
The first half started off with a goal from the Eagles at 9:52. Senior goalie Megan Biddell made her first save of the game at 15:00. The Eagles were quick to come back with three more goals. Freshman Leonie Witt and sophomore Rahel Lang tried to bring the Storm back with some shots on goal, but the Eagles goalie was there. The Eagles were able to score again, and held a 5-0 lead going into the second half.
Sophomore Erin Jackson shot on the Eagles goal to combat for the Storm early in the second half. The Eagles tried shooting a few more, but missed. Sophomore Jillian Newlan recorded a shot at 65:00, but missed right. Senior goalie Maria Kisha entered the goal for the Storm at 76:11 to take over for Biddell. Kisha made her first save at 80:15, followed by another shot from Lang. The clock ran out, giving the Eagles the 5-0 win.
Biddell finished the match with seven saves.
Team Leaders
Biddell led the Storm this season in defense, recording 91 saves in the net.
Storm offense was led by sophomore Jillian Newlan with five goals. Frehsman Leonie Witt, sophomore Rahel Lang, freshman Kim Lorenz, and freshman Ainsley MacKenzie each recorded a goal for the Storm this season.
Newlan and Ainsley helped the Storm secure their season win against Purdue Northwest on August 27th, 2022, each scoring a goal.
Coaching
Head Coach Reni Lawrence finishes up her sixth year with Lake Erie, assisted by Maddy Ireton in her second year with the Storm. Graduate Assistant Scott Wilson finishes his first year with the Storm helping out as an assistant coach.
