Storm Wins Second Consecutive Game | Defeats Northwood 21-18

Box Score

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm football team hosted Northwood University, Saturday, October 22 on senior day. The game was tight the entire contest but the Storm emerged victorious, topping the Timberwolves 21-18.

Northwood stuck to the ground game early on and it produced a touchdown on their first offensive drive, taking 8 minutes off the clock and punching it in for an early 6-0 lead after the failed extra point attempt.

The Lake Erie offense would respond quickly though, leaning on their passing game as Gerald Gardner and Xeavier Bullock would combine for 86 passing yards on the drive and finish it off with a 15-yard touchdown reception to Jovohn Tucker.

Northwood's next offensive drive would end quickly with a pick by Jaden McCray, and two plays later, Gardner would find Peyton Brown for a 9-yard reception and put the Storm up 14-6.

The Lake Erie offense would stay silent the next two quarters and would end up squandering the lead, going down 18-14 by the end of the third quarter.

With their offense struggling the previous two quarters, the Storm offense would put together a quick and efficient drive to put them up 21-18 which would prove to be the deciding score. The defense would show tenacity and looked brilliant in the final 10 minutes of the fourth quarter.

Despite only putting up 21 points on offense, the Storm passing game was in full swing. Garder would finish 23-37 for 344 yards and three touchdowns while Peyton Brown would haul in 11 receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns with Jovohn Tucker catching seven passes for 145 yards and one touchdown.

The win improves the Storm's record to 3-5 on the season and a 3-3 conference record. Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday, October 29 on the road to face the University of Findlay Oilers at 12:00 PM.
