Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio. – The Lake Erie College Storm men's soccer hosted the Malone University Pioneers on October 22 for their senior night. Lake Erie would easily take care of Malone, taking them down 7-0. The Storm improve their record to 8-6-3 on the season with a 7-4-2 conference record.
From the moment they stepped on the field, the Storm were clearly in control. It didn't take long for them to score either as they netted their first goal of the game just a minute into the contest when Gio Da Costa would strike.
Just four minutes later the Storm would strike again. This time, Marcos Somohano would find Connor Mautino for a nice goal and their lead would extend to 2-0.
Six minutes later Teddy Baker would put one in assisted by Tom Akinola. Lake Erie would then go on a 15-minute cold streak until Mautino would score his second goal of the game, assisted by Baker.
The Storm would get one more on the board before the half with Daniel Utgaard scoring their fifth goal of the game.
In the second half, Akinola would score twice within a minute of each other and put the Storm up 7-0 where they would sit until the end of regulation.
On the day, Akinola and Mautino would score twice with Baker recording two assists in addition to his own goal.
Lake Erie continues to roll and will return to action one more time in the regular season as they travel to face conference leaders Ashland on the road on Tuesday, October 25 at 3:30 PM.
