Storm Fall to Dragons, 52-27

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Lake Erie College Storm football team took traveled on the road, Saturday, October 1 to face the Tiffin Dragons. Despite a competitive first half, the Storm would fall 52-27.

The Storm would come out hot in their first drive. On just their second play of the game, Gerald Gardner would find Nate Dantley for a 48-yard completion and then connect with Jovohn Tucker the next play for a 27-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead.

The Dragons would bounce right back and tie things up on their first offensive drive but Lake Erie was quick to respond, with Robbie Sanders rushing up the middle for a 16-yard touchdown, putting them back up, 14-7.

Tiffin would then score two consecutive touchdowns putting them up 21-14 before the Storm would tie things up again on a 48-yard connection between Gardner and Peyton Brown.

Things would then take a turn for the worst for the Storm as their next kickoff would be returned for a touchdown and then their first offensive play after would be intercepted and returned for a touchdown, shifting the momentum and giving the Dragons a 35-21 lead.

Next offensive drive for the Storm, they would be forced to punt and the Dragons' special teams would strike again as they returned the punt 91-yard for a touchdown and put them up before the end of the 42-21.

The Storm would manage to score one more time in the contest with a receiving touchdown from Gardner to Keed Kpoto, but would ultimately fall, 52-27.

Gardner would complete 16 of his 29 pass attempts for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Dantley would lead all receivers with seven receptions for 106 yards. Cameron Grodhaus led the way defensively for Lake Erie with 17 tackles and one fumble recovery.

The loss takes the Storm's record to 1-4 on the season while they remain at a 1-2 conference record. Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday, October 8 at home against the visiting Ohio Dominican Panthers with kickoff set at 12:00 PM.
