Box Score The Lake Erie College Storm men's basketball team fell to Ohio Dominican, 62-61 on Jan. 24 in Columbus, Ohio. This marks the Storm's fourth consecutive loss, dropping their record to 8-8 on the season and 2-7 in conference play.
The Storm started off slow, despite taking a 30-25 lead going into the second half. In the first half, they managed to shoot just 33.3 percent (11-33) from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc. Caleb Piks would contribute eight points while Jonny Manning would record five rebounds. However, both would go silent in the second half.
Lake Erie, as a team would play much better in the second half, shooting 50.0 (13-26) and from beyond the arc (4-8). Jordan Burton and Leon Hughes would take control of the game for the Storm with Burton contributing 11 points and Hughes adding 10 points in addition to five rebounds.
With 2:38 left in the game, the Storm would be down by just five points before Jordan Burton would close the gap even more with a jump shot making it a three-point game. On the Panthers' next possession, a held ball would create a turnover causing Lake Erie to call a timeout.
Connor Wright would get fouled and miss the free throw, but the Storm would gain repossession when a missed three-pointer by the Panthers would travel out of bounds.
Next possession, Hughes would work his way into the paint and make it a 62-61 game.
With 43 seconds left, the Panthers would inbound the ball and lose control causing the ball to roll out of bounds and result in a Storm possession.
As time was winding down, Kevin Peterson threw up a three but was unable to drain it, leaving the final score at 62-61.
The Storm will be back in action on Jan. 26 at 5:30 PM at home against Ashland before going back on the road against Tiffin on Jan. 29 at 3:00 PM.
