Box Score With the winter weather in full swing across most of Northeast Ohio, the Lake Erie College women's basketball team headed down the road to North Canton to face the Walsh Cavaliers. While the Storm battled hard, they were unable to avenge their home loss to the Cavaliers, and fell again by a score of 88 to 58.
Lake Erie has been plagued by slow starts for much of the season, and this contest was no different unfortunately. After trading shots early, a Cavalier 15 point run would bring the score to 21-6 by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the outside shooting came alive for the Storm. Taylor Thomas and Lainey Billing would lead the Storm comeback suge with a total of 4 three pointers in the 2nd quarter between them. However, the game would enter the halftime break with a score of 27-42.
The third quarter would see the Cavaliers lengthen their lead past the 20 point mark despite strong outside shooting from Thomas and Abby Matalavage.
Unfortunately for the Storm, the 4th quarter was more of the same, and the Storm would come away with a 88-58 loss.
On the plus side for the Storm, Breanna Bauer would lead all scorers for Lake Erie at 12, and Taylor Thomas would follow up with 9. Abby Matalavage and Lainey Billing would each add 7 points as well.
While this road trip did not go the Storm's way, they look to get back on track when the Ashland Eagles come to Jerome T. Osborne Center on Thursday, January 26th for a 7:30 pm tip.
