Storm Draw in Season Opener at Slippery Rock

Box Score

Lake Erie Men's soccer team kicked off their 2021 fall season with a Thursday night road trip to take on regional foe Slippery Rock, and they were met with a hard-fought close game.

The Storm started off with a closely contested first half, and both teams went into the half without points on the board.

After conceding a late goal in the 83rd minute, Lake Erie was able to snag an equalizer off the foot of senior Tom Pearson who got through the Slippery Rock defense with a goal in the 89th minute.

After drawing level, both teams traded shots in extra time, but neither was able to take control of the game and the final result was a draw at 1-1.

Lake Erie really showed their focus on the attacking side of the game with 17 shots in the game as a team, with junior Ayden Von Essen leading the way with 6. On the defensive, senior goalkeeper Tom John kept the Storm in the game with 6 saves.

The Storm returns to action next week on Friday, September 10th as they take on Northwood University in a neutral site match to be played at Tiffin starting at Noon.
