Box Score 2 The Lake Erie College Storm dropped matches against Ashland and Tiffin University this weekend. Storm fell 3-0 against the Eagles Friday afternoon, followed by a 3-1 loss at Tiffin Saturday.
Friday
The Storm traveled to Ashland University to take on the Eagles Friday afternoon. The Eagles defeated the Storm 25-9, 25-8, and 25-14.
The strong defense from Ashland shut down any momentum the Storm had to begin with.
Kariema Rodriguez led the Storm with eight kills on the night, Maria Blatnik and Jordan Taylor both added two.
Simone Schurr led the Storm with 13 assists and eight digs in the loss.
Saturday
The Storm traveled to Tiffin University Saturday to take on the Dragons in another conference matchup. However, the Dragons downed the Storm 3-1 with set scores of 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, and 25-17.
The Dragons took an early lead in set one with a score of 5-1, but the Storm fought back to take the lead 7-6. However, the Dragons pushed forward as they took the first set 25-17.
The Dragons started with an early lead in the second set, but again, the Storm fought back taking the lead 5-4. Building on the momentum, the Storm went on a 10-1 run, not backing down. The Dragons threatened as they got within three before the Storm finished it out taking set two 25-19.
The third and fourth sets were run by Tiffin's offense as they went on 9-1 and 6-1 runs throughout. Although the Storm battled hard, the Dragons outlasted them.
Blatnik led the Storm with 14 kills followed by Dora Olah with 13. Rodriguez and Taylor added eight each respectively. As Schurr was responsible for 37 of the assists.
On the defensive side, Olah led with 17 digs, followed by Taylor Metzler and Rodriguez who each added 16.
