Box Score (Painesville, Ohio) – The Lake Erie women's soccer team competed in their first conference matchup of the season this afternoon as they took on the Findlay Oilers. After going into double overtime, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
An early goal, 17 minutes into the first half, put the Storm ahead 1-0 as freshman Jillian Newlan found the back of the net once again thanks to an assist from Juliet Tyma. This was Newlans second goal of the season.
The Storm was able to hold off the Oilers the rest of the first half, but Findlay scored 62 minutes in on a goal by Sami Hild, bringing the score even at 1-1 to end the second half.
With tough defensive play on both sides of the field, the game ended in a 1-1 tie after double overtime.
Megan Biddell came up big for the Storm tonight as she recorded seven saves against the Oilers.
The Storm returns to action this Saturday, September 18th as they travel to Ashland University to take on the Eagles. This matchup is set to kickoff at 2 p.m.
