Storm take early lead to defeat Saginaw Valley

Box Score

The Lake Erie men's soccer team took the field on Sunday for the second game of their neutral site stint at Tiffin University for a contest with the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State, and they came home with a 1-0 victory.

The Storm started off hot with a quick goal in the 3rd minute by junior Gio Monterio Da Costa, who was assisted by freshman Jackson Breske on the play. That would prove to be all the scoring the Storm would need for the rest of the match.

The Storm defense then took the spotlight behind the strong play of freshman goalkeeper Tomas Wroblewski. Wroblewski was able to rack up a whopping 13 saves on 23 total shots from Saginaw Valley in his first collegiate start.

The Storm will return to action in their Great Midwest Athletic Conference season opener for a road contest against the Findlay Oilers on Thursday, September 16th at 4 pm.
