Men's Basketball Earn Much Needed Road Win Over Trojans

Box Score

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) - Heading into this week's road trip, the Lake Erie men's basketball team was slowly building confidence. That confidence translated into the Storms first victory 69-54 over Trevecca Nazarene.

Lake Erie now 1-9, 1-9 G-MAC drops the Trojans to 3-13, 3-11 G-MAC. The Storm came out from the start looking to score and they did just that jumping to a 20-8 lead with seven minutes to play before halftime. Both teams went into the halftime break shooting just under 30 percent, with the Storm leading 24-20.

Coming out of the locker room the Lake Erie continued to build their lead scoring 10 straight points. The Storm lead would grow as large as 19 in the closing minutes of the game.

Lake Erie had its best performance from the free-throw line this season converting on 18-21 attempts. Jackson Burdyshaw provided a spark off the bench adding 13 points of the team's 24 bench points. Jacob Plantz joined Burdyshaw leading all scorers with 13 points. The combination of Plantz and Burdyshaw secured 18 rebounds and nine rebounds each.

"I couldn't be happier for my team to pick up a road win today. Obviously, the start to our season has been challenging for a variety of reasons, but the guys have continued to work and improve," said head coach Kyle Conley. "The execution of our defensive game plan today was outstanding and we found a way to answer any runs Trevecca made."

The Storm will host Malone on Monday, February 8 at 7:30 pm.
