Storm drop road contest at Kentucky Wesleyan

(OWENSBORO, Ky,) - The Lake Erie women's basketball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan 63-82 on Thursday night at the Owensboro Sportscenter. 

With the loss, Lake Erie falls to 1-12 overall, 1-12 G-MAC, and Kentucky Wesleyan improves to 10-4, 10-4 G-MAC. 

Leading the way for the Storm was Sydney Wyngarden with 17 points. Senior forward Breanna Bauer followed with 16, while Lauren Flannery added 11. Bauer led the Storm with six rebounds. 

Kentucky Wesleyan closed out the first half on a 12-1 scoring run in the final minutes. Both teams went into the locker room with a 26-42 Panther lead.

Coming out of the halftime break the Storm were able to get close as 11 points but it was not enough to stop the offensive efficacy of Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers were led by forward Tahlia Walton who scored a game-high 18 points.

Lake Erie finished the game shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from behind the arc. Kentucky Wesleyan committed 20 turnovers while the Storm committed 23. The Panther bench outscored Lake Erie 42-7.

Up next for the Storm is a Saturday afternoon contest on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, TN. Tip-off is set for 1:30 pm CST.
