Box Score Lake Erie defeated the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers this weekend, October 30, in a fantastic G-MAC showdown. The Storm's red hot offense continued to roll, putting up more than 30 points for the third straight contest.
The game got off to a less than ideal start for the Storm as their first drive ended in a fumble which Kentucky Wesleyan captivated off immediately, scoring on a 65-yard pass with their first offensive play of the game.
Lake Erie would respond quickly however when Gerald Gardner connected with Nate Dantley for a 54-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.
Both teams would then post back-to-back three-and-out's and remain silent until the Panthers would strike again towards the end of the quarter, giving them the lead, 14-7.
The Panthers would score twice more before the end of the half and the Storm just once more, putting the score at 28-14.
Despite their struggles in the first half, the Storm would hit hard in the second half by shutting out the Panthers and going on an offensive tear.
The second half got off to a hot start when Jayme Vincente-Colon came up with a pick for the Storm on the second play of the game and the offense would turn that into a touchdown two plays later and continue to roll.
Gardner would throw two total touchdowns in the second half with Devin Brown adding one on the ground and Justin Smith splitting the uprights for three, helping the Storm come back from a 28-14 deficit at the half to a 38-28 victory.
On the day, Gardner would go 25-52 for 359 yards and four touchdowns. Nate Dantley and Eric Daniels would each have a 100-yard receiving game, Dantley pulling in nine receptions for 144 yards and two scores while Daniels would grab 7 receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown.
On defense, Vicente-Colon and DJ Taylor would come up with an interception each while Michael Cox and Zach Rodman would each record a sack.
