Box Score 2 (Painesville, Ohio) – The Lake Erie women's volleyball team split the weekend matches. The Storm hosted the Roberts Wesleyan RedHawks Friday night followed by a road trip to Pepper Pike, Ohio Saturday to face the Ursuline Arrows.
Friday
The Lake Erie Storm volleyball team earned their fourth win of the 2021 season last night with a victory over the Roberts Wesleyan RedHawks. The win improves the Storm's record to 4-20 on the year, while the loss puts the RedHawks to 2-19.
The Storm won the first set 25-13, followed by set two 25-18, and wrapped up the match with a final set score of 25-18.
Overall, Lake Erie recorded 42 kills on 94 total attempts with only 14 errors for a hitting percentage of .298. The RedHawks attempted 89 times, and recorded only 23 kills with 15 total errors, for a hitting percentage of .090.
Maria Blatnik led the Storm offensive production with 11 kills. Kariema Rodriguez followed with 10 kills, as Dora Olah added seven of her own.
On the defensive side, Taylor Metzler and Olah recorded nine digs each, followed by Kaylee Hiser with seven.
Simone Schurr was responsible for 34 of the 38 assists on the night.
Saturday
The Lake Erie College Storm fell to Ursuline Saturday evening in four sets. The Arrows won the first two sets with scores of 25-23, and 25-20. The Storm was able to battle back in set three winning 25-27, but lost momentum in the fourth set, losing 25-16.
Overall, Lake Erie recorded 45 kills on 140 total attempts with 29 errors for a hitting percentage of .114. The Arrows attempted 146 times, with 52 kills and 29 errors as well, for a hitting percentage of .158.
Dora Olah had the hot arm for the Storm recording 14 kills and one service ace. Maria Blatnik had an impressive 12 kills with two blocks. Notably Julianna Krebasch recorded eight kills along with Jordan Taylors seven.
On the defensive side, Kaylee Hiser led with 11 digs, followed by Simone Schurr with eight. Schurr also recorded 33 assists in the match.
