Lake Erie traveled to Ashland this weekend to take on the Eagles after a huge win over Hillsdale last week. The Storm would end up falling 42-41 in a hard-fought offensive shootout. 

Reigning GMAC Player of the Week, Gerald Gardner would get the offense rolling right off the bat, ending the Storm's first drive with a score, giving them a 7-0 lead.

Ashland would respond with two scores of their own in the first quarter putting them on top 14-7.

It wouldn't be long until the storm would tie it right back up though as Gardner led the offense down the field in just two minutes and 45 seconds.

Both teams would trade score the rest of the quarter and the Storm would take the lead once again in the fourth quarter when Gardner connected with Eric Daniels for a 15-yard touchdown, giving Lake Erie a 35-28 lead.

The Eagles would put together two scores in a row giving them a 42-35 lead but the Storm would respond again with 6:01 left, however a costly missed extra point would prevent them from tying the game which would prove to be the difference-maker making the final score 42-41.

Gerald Gardner would finish the day 33-57 for 387 yards and five touchdowns.

Josh Hufstetler would pull in eight of those receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown. Eric Daniels would collect 84 yards of his own with two touchdowns.

The Storm are back at home next weekend, Oct. 30 at 3:00 PM as Kentucky Wesleyan comes to visit.
