Box Score (PEPPER PIKE, Ohio) - The Lake Erie women's basketball team struggled on the road at Ursuline College (4-3, 4-3 G-MAC) tonight as the Arrows won 81-72. With their fourth-straight loss, Lake Erie drops to a 0-4 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
The Storm was down by one at the 3:27 mark in the first quarter which gave Ursuline a 10-9 lead. That would end up being the closest Lake Erie was able to keep the game against the Arrows. Ursuline put together an impressive scoring streak from three-point land in the second quarter and led by 10 at the end of the first half with a score of 37-27.
Lake Erie shot 44% from the field including going 5 of 10 from beyond the three-point arc. In comparison, Ursuline was 46.9% from the field and outrebounded the Storm 42-33.
Lake Erie continued to struggle on both ends of the floor in the second half as Ursuline extended their lead throughout.
In the closing minutes of the game, Lauren Flannery was able to score three consecutive baskets including back-to-back three-pointers to bring the Storm back within single digits. The Arrows were able to put the game away at the free-throw line going 6-8 to close it out.
Individually, Flannery led the Storm in scoring as she had a team-high 19 points. Shalaya Heath was 4 of 7 from the field and finished with 12 points on the night. Sydney Wyngarden joined Flannery and Heath as the only other player in double figures finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Dy'Jhanik Armfield added nine points, five steals, and three rebounds for the Storm.
Lake Erie will have time to prepare for their next contest as they host No. 7 Walsh on Thursday, January 14. The game is set for a 5:30 pm tip in the Osborne Center.
