Box Score (Painesville, Ohio) - The Lake Erie College Storm volleyball team won their season opener in a Great Midwest matchup against the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots with a final score of 3-1.
The Storm took an early lead winning the first set of the night 13-25. The Fighting Scots battled back in the second set, taking it 25-18. Securing the win, the Storm took the final two sets with a score of 18-25 and 19-25.
Offensively, junior Kariema Rodriguez recorded 19 kills, while freshman Peyton Lemmer added eight kills on the night. Two other key contributors on the night were Dora Olah and Maria Blatnik, both primarily used as attackers last year, quickly moved into the setter position due to a preseason injury on last year's setter Alexandria Becerra. Olah finished the night with 22 assists with Blatnik right behind her with 18.
Sophomore, Kaylee Hiser, held down the defense, digging out 14 balls with seven assists offensively.
