(PAINESVILLE, OHIO) - After a delayed start to the season due to COVID restrictions, the Lake Erie College women's basketball team finally hit the hardwood at their home court, losing to Ohio Dominican, 92-57 at the Osborne Center. This defeat follows a road loss to Malone in the season opener on December 31.

Senior forward Breanna Bauer (Port Huron, Mich.) topped the point totals for the Storm, going 5-8 from the field for 14 points. Junior Lainey Billing (Columbus, Ohio) and sophomore Lauren Flannery (Hannibal, Ohio) added nine points and eight points, respectively. Additionally, sophomore guard Angela Fink (Brunswick, Ohio) registered five assists.

But the high-powered Panthers offense got out to a lead that served too difficult for the Storm to come back from. Ohio Dominican forward Olivia Fox scored 22 points on 10 shots and recovered 10 total rebounds. Celeste Mershimer added 17 points from the bench.

Ohio Dominican won the turnover battle, 18-8, scored 10 more points in the paint than Lake Erie, and had nine more second chance points. The Panthers scored 23 fast break points to the Storm's 12 and received 26 points from their bench, compared to Lake Erie's 12.

Up next, the Storm look to win their first game of the season when Hillsdale visits Painesville. The action begins at 1 p.m. at the Osborne Center.
