(MARIETTA, Ohio) – It's been a long time coming, but the Lake Erie Storm will finally be back in competition tomorrow in Shriners Hospital for Children Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio Valley University. It will be the first event for the golf teams since last year's Kyle Ryman Memorial that took place in early October as the spring season was cancelled because of the pandemic.
"I'm very excited for our fall season. We are one of the few teams and schools able to compete, so we are all very fortunate," said first year head coach Makayla Dull. "We are traveling to a variety of places competing against high-level teams. Both of my teams have been practicing very diligently and have shown great potential."
With a full year of recruiting now complete, the men's team will feature a full team plus two individuals. Jarrod Teeter (R-Fr., Johnstown, Ohio / Northridge) returns after being the lone linkster last year for the Green and White. He averaged 80 over eight rounds with a season-best 75 last fall.
Joining him will be Antonio Bodziony (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Willoughby South), Wyatt Chapman (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Mentor), Jacob Fitzpatrick (Fr., Lorain, Ohio / Amherst Steele), Logan Frank (R-Fr., Painesville, Ohio / Riverside), Kent Gross (Fr., North Jackson, Ohio / Jackson-Milton), and Daniel Milo (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin).
The women will feature the talented duo of Lauren O'Neill and Avery Rickenbacher. O'Neill lettered all four years for the Strongsville Mustangs and will also be on the dance team for the Storm this year. Rickenbacher hails from Cuyahoga Falls and a Woodridge Bulldogs graduate.
The Intercollegiate will take place tomorrow and Saturday at the historic Marietta Country Club, just across the Ohio River from Ohio Valley University. It's one of the oldest courses west of the Allegheny Mountains and was the first in southeastern Ohio.
