(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Today's Storm Senior Spotlight is Alyssa Johnson, the lone senior of the Lake Erie Softball program. An infielder from Wickliffe, Ohio, Alyssa provides leadership and experience to the Storm squad.
A product of Wickliffe High School, Johnson most often plays shortstop for the Green and White. After making only eight appearances in her freshman campaign, Johnson finished the 2017-18 season with a .300 batting average, a .379 on-base percentage, and a six-game hit streak. Alyssa continued to provide insurance at the plate with six multi-hit games in her junior season that included a game against Malone where she went 3-4 with two runs and a double, and a home game against Findlay finishing 2-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Alyssa played all of the 13 games this season and hit for an average of .265 with nine hits in 34 at-bats. Johnson also helped set the defensive tone on the softball field finishing her career with a .947 fielding percentage.
For her career, she went 41-176 at the plate with eight doubles and 16 runs scored. Alyssa is majoring in Biology and has a minor in Psychology. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Post-graduation, Alyssa will be attending graduate school at Cleveland State University as a member of their Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program.
