Box Score (TIFFIN, Ohio) – Seven players scored in double-figures to help Lake Erie to a dominating win over Tiffin on Saturday afternoon. The win broke a five game skid on the road for the Storm (14-10, 8-6) and was their fifth consecutive win against the Dragons (8-16, 2-12).
The 3-point shot was beneficial for the Storm as they made 13-of-24, one shy of their season best from earlier this season at Edinboro. Lake Erie actually shot better behind the arc at 54.2% than they did overall with a 36-of-67 mark for 53.7 percent. The wealth was distributed equally as six players combined for all 13 bonus bombs.
Jacob Plantz (Fr., Genoa, Ohio / Genoa) accounted for three of them to lead the team while the rest had two. He finished 5-of-10 overall for 13 points. Gabe Kynard (Sr., Toledo, Ohio / St. John's) led the team with 16 points and was also 5-of-10 from the field. He was also responsible for five more buckets with five of the team's 19 assists.
Lake Erie's depth was also pivotal as its bench outscored the Dragons' 42-15. PJ Jones (So., Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) had a spectacular game with 15 points. He was nearly perfect as he went 6-of-8 overall, 2-of-3 on triples, and made his only free throw attempt.
The Storm also dominated the glass largely in part to Mitch Loomis (R-Sr., Malvern, Ohio) who pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds. Six of them were on the offensive end which translated to nine of the team's 16 second chance points.
Kaleb Vaughn (R-Sr., Toledo, Ohio / St. John's) added 12 points while Harrison Riggs (Jr., Toledo, Ohio / St. John's), Ennis Thomas (Sr., Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) and Kevin Peterson (So., Cleveland, Ohio / Padua) all registered 10 to round out the double-figures scorers.
The Storm now return home for three of their final four games of the regular season. All are important contests against teams currently in the top eight of the conference standings. First up on the slate is Cedarville a week from today with a tip-off set for 1 p.m.
