(Painesville, Ohio) - The Lake Erie indoor track and field team after a week off will return to action this weekend splitting competition heading to both the Akron Invitational at Akron University and the Jim Wuske Invitational hosted by Mount Union.
The Storm will have eight athletes competing in 10 events at the Akron Invitational. After a successful meet day at the Tom Hathaway Distance Challenge, Imane Snyder will highlight Lake Erie as she competes in three events to include the women's 60m dash where she placed third last time out posting a time of 7.89. Sophomore long jumper Tareeq Welch has made improvements with his measurements at each meet this season. Welch has recorded back to back top-three finishes with a season-best jump of 6.61m. Both the women's and men's 4x400 Meter Relay teams will have a competitive field but the Storm look to strive for a top finish and season-best time. Competition at the Stile Athletics Field House in Akron will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Mount Union Jim Wuske Invitational will be hosting 18 teams on Saturday and will have the Storm competing in 16 field and running events. In the field events, Dominic DiFranco finished with two top-ten finishes in his last two weighted throw events with throws measuring 14.42m and 14.64m. India Snyder, Hailey Nielsen, Alexis Dunigan, and Johanna Moeller will each be competing in the 60m dash. The meet is named after former Mount Union coach Jim Wuske, who brought the Purple Raider cross country and track teams to national prominence in his 24 years of coaching. Wuske had a total of 36 athletes received 59 All-America citations with 60 individual Ohio Athletic Conference outdoor champions and 56 OAC indoor champions in track and field.
