(Tiffin, Ohio) - After the completion of Day one of competition the Lake Erie track and field teams competed well amongst the conference best athletes. Host team Tiffin looked to retain their championship title on Friday after claiming the indoor and outdoor titles in their first seasons as members of the G-MAC.

Senior Hailey Nielsen started out the day for the Storm in the 60m her first event in the Pentathlon. Nielsen after five events finished fourth with 3090 points.

Johanna Moeller was the only medal recipient on day one with her second-place finish in the long jump measuring 5.60m just short of Tiffins Jazilee Williams 5.62m. Moeller qualified in the prelims of the 60m hurdles with a third-place finish and a time of 9.17.

With a qualifying time of 59.36, Luca Hartman finished third in the women's 400 meters.

Teammates Joseph Elson Jr. and Joneteris Johnson pushed each other in the 400 meter race qualifying with times of 50.91 and 50.98 respectively.

Imane Snyder's preliminary times of 7.76 in the 60m and 25.78 in the 200m qualified her to compete in day two.
Day Two (Feb. 29)
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships will resume Saturday at 9:00 am with the men's heptathlon. Meet day will conclude with the men's and women's 4x400 relay with the awards presentation to follow.
