(TIFFIN, Ohio) - High winds caused problems for teams on the second day of the Kyle Ryman Memorial, but Daniel Milo (Fr. Mentor, Ohio / Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) didn't let it bother him as he finished with a 71 Tuesday afternoon. It was the second-best round of the day and tied Jarrod Teeter (R-Fr., Johnstown, Ohio / Northridge) for Lake Erie's best in the tournament.
The score helped Milo finish with a 222 for the event after he carded 75 and 76 yesterday. Overall he was six-over-par.
While the winds gave other players issues, it didn't appear to bother Milo as he birdied the 14th, his second hole of the day, to go one-under. Bogeys on the 16th and first put him at one-over, but he was able to finish down strong on the first of the front nine with three birdies in a seven-hole stretch.
Antonio Bodziony (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Willoughby South) also improved from his first two rounds with a 74 today. He too got in some trouble early with three bogeys early, but was able to birdie a pair on his back nine. Wyatt Chapman (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) went for par on the final five holes to tally 82. While Teeter fell out of contention for the individual title early, he was able to hit 83 to complete the team score.
Jacob Fitzpatrick (Fr., Lorain, Ohio / Amherst Steele)
Logan Frank (R-Fr., Painesville, Ohio / Riverside) carded a 92 playing as an independent.
Findlay took the team title with an 845 thanks to a near-record book performance with a 273 in the second round. Indianapolis was a distant second with an 871.
The Storm finished 12th out of 16 teams with a 920, but there was plenty to be happy about for a group of all freshmen players. Less than two weeks ago the Storm finished second to Ohio Valley in the Fighting Scots own tournament and turned around to defeat them by 24 strokes on neutral grounds.
Lake Erie also edged local rival Mercyhurst by two strokes.
The Storm will hit the links again in less than a week when they travel to Cedarville on Monday. It will be a long day for the Green and White as they will play 36 holes. The event will be held at Beavercreek Golf Club and close out the fall season.
