(BEAVERCREEK, Ohio) – The fall competition season came to a close as Lake Erie played in the Cedarville Invitational on Monday. The Storm finished seventh in the 36-hole, two round event at Beavercreek Country Club.
The Storm stood in sixth after the first round with a score of 315. Wyatt Chapman (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) put forth the best opening round for Lake Erie as he shot a 77. He started on the ninth hole and went one-under early with a birdie on his third hole, but ran into some trouble on the back stretch on the front nine. Chapman hit an 82 to complete the day with a total of 159.
Antonio Bodziony (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Willoughby South) was one stroke back with a 78 in the first round. He had a rough start as he was five-over five holes in, but was able to settle down and recover to finish the round six-over.
Daniel Milo (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) scored a pair of 80's for a 160. Jacob Fitzpatrick (Fr., Lorain, Ohio / Amherst Steele) carded rounds of 80 and 83 to total 163 for the event. Jarrod Teeter (R-Fr., Johnstown, Ohio / Northridge) rounded out the team with a 169 with an 80 in the second round.
In the overall team standings, the Storm finished just four strokes back of Ohio Valley, but were easily ahead of West Virginia Tech with a 17-stroke cushion.
The Storm will return to action in the spring with multiple events still being scheduled. It will culminate in the G-MAC Championship at the University of Kentucky's Big Blue Golf Course in Lexington starting on Monday, April 19.
