(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - The Lake Erie women's soccer team scored twice in the first half to defeat the Tiffin Dragons, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. 

The win lifted the Storm to 1-1-1 in the G-MAC and 4-1-2 on the season while Tiffin fell to 0-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. Both teams entered the match looking to record their first conference win.  

Tiffin jumped ahead in the sixth minute on a goal by forward Lily Cady. The Storm quickly responded in the 13th minute as Emilie Coyne pushed the ball wide to Carley Kandel who drove the ball inside the box and put it past Tiffin goalkeeper Nahomi Lopez. 

Nearly six minutes after the first goal by the Storm, Carley Kandel looked to score again but the ball was deflected by the goalkeeper. Peyton Frankovich then was able to rebound the ball and put it in the goal. 

The two goals by the Storm proved to be enough the rest of the way as Tiffin looked to make a run late in the match by taking nine shots in the second half.

Goalkeeper Megan Biddell was able to make some amazing saves in goal as the Dragons threatened. Biddell finished with nine saves. Lake Erie outshot Tiffin 14-13, while taking eight corner kicks. 

Next up for Lake Erie is a 4 p.m. meeting with Malone on Thursday. The Pioneers are currently 4-1 overall and 1-1 in G-MAC play.
