PR's Set In Numbers At Kent State, Mount Union

(KENT, Ohio) – It was a split squad Saturday for Lake Erie as Storm student-athletes traveled to both Kent State and Mount Union for competition.

At Kent State, Joseph Elson Jr. was the top Storm performer. He ran the 400 meter dash and was able to finish fifth after he clocked in at 49.88. Throwers were at a different location as they headed a bit further south to Alliance for Mount Union's Tune-Up.

Shaun Wright and Dominic DiFranco competed in the shot put with both coming in sixth and seventh in their flight. Wright placed just ahead of DiFranco in sixth with a throw of 11.14 meters for a new PR. DiFranco's best mark also came with a PR at 10.85 meters.

In the weight throw, DiFranco finished 12th out of 28 overall and fourth in his heat with a throw of 12.70 meters.

For the women, Hailey Nielsen finished 15th out of 60 and second in her heat in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.68. She also finished 36th in a field of 82 in the 200 meter finals with a time of 27.04.

At Mount Union, Paige Tranchida improved with a new PR in the shot put. Her best mark came on her second attempt and measured 10.71 meters. It allowed her to finish second in her heat and 11th out of 35.

Lauren Pagan finished 19th in the weight throw with a PR of 11.17 meters. The mark also allowed her to finish first in her heat.

Lake Erie will be back in action this Friday as they head to Findlay for the G-MAC Championships. The event will conclude on Saturday.
