Box Score (PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Lake Erie fell in its final game before the winter break in an 84-80 decision to Le Moyne at the Osborne Center on Friday evening. The Storm (8-5) rallied again late in the second half after trailing by double-digits, but the Dolphins (8-4) were able to answer the surge and hold on at the end.
The Storm trailed by as many as 11 midway through the second half before Gabe Kynard (Sr., Toledo, Ohio / St. John's) did what he does best in sparking a charge in the offense. Held to only two points in the first half, Kynard scored nine consecutive Lake Erie points to pull the Storm back within four at 68-64 and forced the visitors to call a timeout.
Coming out of the break, a Kevin Peterson (So., Cleveland, Ohio / Padua) furthered the run with a layup before Kynard tied it up with another deuce with 6:18 to go. Peterson then added a 3-pointer to give Lake Erie its largest lead down the stretch, but the Dolphins quickly tied it up once again and took the lead for good on a triple that put the score at 75-73.
Kynard finished the game with 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half. He pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Peterson added 16 points and five rebounds.
