Box Score (CLARION, Pa.) – A last second shot by Clarion broke Lake Erie's hearts as the attempt that held on top of the rim dropped through the middle and handed the Storm a 64-62 defeat Tuesday afternoon. The result snapped a four-game win streak for Lake Erie (4-3) and gave the Golden Eagles (1-5) their first victory of the season.
The game was the definition of a nail biter as no one had more than a one-possession lead for the final 10 minutes of the contest. After Kevin Peterson (XXXXX) tied the game twice in the final minute, Clarion was offered one final opportunity in the waning seconds. The game appeared destined for overtime as a loose ball was created by the Storm defense inside the paint, but Clarion's Jarrod Stukes was able to throw up a last-second attempt for the win.
Peterson finished the night with an impressive double-double with 13 points on 4-of-7 from the field and 12 rebounds. He was strong behind the arc as he made three of his five attempts. Kynard joined him in double-figures with 17 points. He added six rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal.
Kaison Branch was lethal for Clarion as he led the game with 20 points. He was 7-of-8 overall and made all four triples he took.
Overall the Storm crashed the glass and led 39-28 in the rebound department and made just as many field goals as the Eagles with 22.
The Green and White will take a short break for Thanksgiving, but return to action this Sunday with another PSAC member in Edinboro. Tip-off with the Fighting Scots is set for 3 p.m.
