Volleyball Season Ends On Senior Day

Box Score

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The 2019 Lake Erie College volleyball season ended today, with a 3-0 loss to the University of Findlay. Set scores were 17-25, 22-25, and 21-25.

The Oilers got out to an early lead in the first set and maintained it until the third set when a kill by Paige Allen in the second rally put the Storm up 2-1 for their first lead of the match. The Storm and the Oilers were neck and neck for much of the final set, trading five ties and two lead changes, but a seven-point run by the Oilers put them in position to not only secure a win in the match but also take the last postseason spot for the G-MAC tournament.

Storm freshman Taylor Metzler earned nine kills and was targeted 41 times for receptions, while freshman Dora Olah earned seven. Senior setter Hallie Zumack earned 15 assists, while sophomore Alexandria Becerra earned 11. Senior Moe Briggs recorded 20 digs and was targeted four times for receptions.

Four seniors ended their Storm volleyball careers with the loss this afternoon as well. Hailey Nielsen recorded three kills in today's contest, while Tashelle Piegan recorded 11 digs. Additionally, Hallie Zumack and Moe Briggs both joined the 1000 Club, as Zumack recorded over 1,000 career assists and Briggs recorded 1,000 digs.

The Storm finished their season with a record of 10-20 overall and a conference record of 4-8. Final statistics and game notes will be released next week.
