Storm Shut Down Lakers For First Win

Box Score

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – A Storm quartet scored in double-figures to lead Lake Erie to its first win of the season by a score of 81-67 over visiting Wright State-Lake on Tuesday evening. Kaleb Vaughn tallied 16 for game-high honors while Gabe Kynard recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Green and White improved to 1-2 on the season. The Lakers dropped to 2-4.

It didn't take Vaughn long to warm up as he drained the game's opening shot from range for the quick 3-0 lead. It was a sign of things to come as he chalked up three more 3-pointers later in the night and finished 6-of-12 overall from the floor.

Following him was Kynard who reached double-figures for the third consecutive game. His 11 rebounds were good for game-high honors as he helped Lake Erie dominate the glass by a 48-23 margin. Of those 48, 20 were on the offensive end which translated into 24 second chance points for the Storm.

Others who scored in double-figures included Mitch Loomis with 13 and Erron James with 12. Loomis was 6-of-9 from the field and James nearly equaled that on a 5-for-9 night. James added five assists, second only to Harrison Riggs' six, and was two rebounds shy of a double-double

The Storm attack was well balanced as nine players found the scoring column.

The Lakers featured five players in double-figures with Chaz Hardin leading the team with 14.

Lake Erie now preps for sunshine with a trip to Florida for two games. First up after a Thursday flight will be Rollins on Friday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
