Strong Second Half Leads Storm Past Trojans

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) - The Lake Erie women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday night at Trojan Soccer Complex.

With the win, Lake Erie improves to 5-3-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Trevecca Nazarene falls to 3-6-2, 3-3-0 in conference play. 

Lake Erie scored the lone goal of the game when Mariah Fedewa scored in the 56th minute of the match. Kristen Redwood took a corner from the right side of the field and it was headed back by Haley Scherer. Scherer's pass found a wide open Fedewa who put her first goal of the season in the back of the net. Redwood and Scherer both were credited for an assist on the goal.

In the victory Redwood tallied a team high four shots in the match for the Storm. Lake Erie was able to put up ten shots in the second half after only taking one shot attempt in the first.

Megan Biddell recorded the fifth shutout for the Storm. Biddell tallied seven saves in the match as the Trojan outshot the Storm 16-11. 

Looking ahead Lake Erie will travel to Owensboro, Ky., to take on Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday, Oct. 12. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
