PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College baseball team will continue Great Midwest North Division play with a three game split series with the Walsh University Cavaliers on Friday (April 13) and Monday (April 16).
The Storm will play at Walsh on Friday (April 13) in a doubleheader that starts at 1:00 PM. Lake Erie will host the Cavaliers on Monday (April 16) night at Classic Park with a single game at 6:00 PM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 12-13-1 overall and 10-5 in the G-MAC this season. The Storm defeated #16 Ohio Dominican on Wednesday (April 11) by an 11-6 final score to win the series finale after dropping the first two games. Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) had three hits, three runs and two RBI in the series finale. Trace Peterson (Medina, Ohio / Medina) leads the Storm with 25 runs, 32 hits, eight homeruns and 20 RBI. Ryan Carver (Orange Park, Fla. / Oakleaf) leads the Storm with a .345 batting average. David Lemasters leads the Storm pitching staff in ERA (3.46), innings (39.0), and strikeouts (50).
Opposition Position: Walsh is 16-14 overall and 9-6 in the Great Midwest schedule. The Cavaliers fell in a doubleheader to former GLIAC foe Ashland, 6-2 and 9-7. Eric Conner leads the team with a .426 batting average and has 52 hits in 30 games. Nick Bebout is 3-0 on the year with a team-high 43 innings pitched and 38 strikeouts.
Series History: Lake Erie holds a 10-7 series advantage through 17 meetings. Walsh swept the season series last year with four wins.
