Seniors Honored as 2025 Season Concludes with Series Defeat Against Tiffin

EASTLAKE, Ohio – The Lake Erie baseball team hosted the final series of the season and held senior day against the Tiffin Dragons, with playoff implications in play for each team. Tiffin would take a comfortable 12-4 victory in game one, despite Robert Helt breaking the single season record for strikeouts. Lake Erie went ahead late to grab game two, winning 8-7. Tiffin would take game three with a 3-0 shutout. Tiffin would hold on in game four 6-3, putting themselves in prime position to clinch a spot in the G-MAC tournament.

After a scoreless first three innings and rain delay, Tiffin would take the lead in the fourth, putting up two runs on three hits for a 2-0 lead. Lake Erie would tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth with Alex Jones scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI sacrifice fly from Zimba Cadiz. The Dragons responded in the sixth with two more runs to retake the lead at 4-2. Tiffin would break the game open in the seventh, plating seven runs on three hits for a 11-2 lead. The Storm would respond back in the bottom half, putting up two runs on an RBI sacrifice fly from Ty Sowers and Connor Shimek scoring on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 11-4. The Dragons added another run in the ninth for a 12-4 lead. Tiffin would hold Lake Erie in the bottom half to win a rain delaying game one 12-4.

Tiffin opened game two with two runs in the first for an early 2-0 lead. Lake Erie would take their first lead of the day, putting four runs up in the second for a 4-2 lead with an RBI double from Mitchel Szymczak and a three-run home run from Zimba Cadiz, his first of the season. The Dragons would retake the lead in the fourth, going ahead 5-4, on an RBI double. Tiffin would tack on two more runs in the sixth, growing their lead 7-4. The Storm would strike in the bottom half, putting up four runs to go back ahead 8-7, with an RBI double and steal of home from Cadiz, and an RBI single from Graham Solak. Brandon Metivier would come in and close the door as Lake Erie would steal game two late with a score of 8-7.
