HICKORY, N.C. – The Lake Erie College baseball team wrapped up their Spring Break trip in North Carolina on Wednesday (Feb. 28) with a single game against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. The Storm fell 9-1 in the roadtrip finale.

The Bears opened the game with a run in the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead.

Lake Erie had two runners on base in the top of the second inning but could not tie the game.

Lenoir-Rhyne added two runs in the third and five runs in the sixth inning, holding a 9-0 advantage.

In the eighth inning, Lake Erie put four runners on base to put a run on the board. Forrest Longeway (Cincinnati, Ohio / Walnut Hills) opened the frame with an infield single and moved to second base on a wild pitch. He advanced to third base on a groundout. Nathan Erzen (Brookpark, Ohio / Berea-Midpark) singled home Longeway for the Storm's first run. Lake Erie loaded the bases with a walk and a hit batter but the threat was extinguished.

Brad Curry (Eaton, Ohio / Eaton), Brian D'Andrea (Amherst, Ohio / Amherst) and Peter Theodos (St. Albans, W. Va. / St. Albans) all threw a scoreless inning each out of the bullpen.

Lake Erie will travel to Concord on March 10th for a three game series.
