Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team opened the 2017 home schedule with a non-conference matchup with the Rock of Slippery Rock University on Sunday (Sept. 3).
The Rock avoided some early Storm scoring opportunities and made an early goal stick in a 2-0 win over the Storm.
Lake Erie attempted to score in the first couple of minutes but came up empty. In the 19th minute, Slippery Rock got on the board with a goal. The Rock led 1-0 at halftime.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Slippery Rock added a second goal on a breakaway. The Rock held on for a 2-0 win.
Lake Erie had five shots in each half, finishing with ten total. Slippery Rock finished with a 12-10 shot advantage. Ezekiel Ebenezer (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) had four shots for the Storm.
Tom John (Ahrensburg, Germany / Tennis Borussia Berlin) made five saves in the goal for Lake Erie.
The Storm will open conference play on Saturday (Sept. 9) with a home match against Cedarville University.
