Big Second Half Lifts Storm Over Walsh, 3-2

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team used three second half goals to defeat the Walsh University Cavaliers 3-2 on Thursday (Sept. 28) afternoon at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.

Both teams held each other scoreless in the first half with Walsh holding the shot advantage 7-6.

Andrew Bucur (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel) opened the scoring in the 48th minute when he knocked a shot past the keeper. Three minutes later, Miguel Espinoza (Perry, Ohio / Perry) scored from 20 yards out as the Storm led 2-0. Walsh cut the lead in half with a goal in the 62nd minute. Joseph Munaretto (Painesville, Ohio / Riverside) scored an insurance goal in the 74th minute as he volleyed the ball over the head of the keeper. Walsh added a late goal in the 77th minute but the Storm hung on for a 3-2 victory.

Walsh outshot the Storm 18-14 in the game as six different players took a shot for the Storm.

Tom John (Ahrensburg, Germany / Tennis Borussia Berlin) made two saves in the goal for Lake Erie.

The Storm will host Malone in a Great Midwest matchup on Saturday (Sept. 30).
