Storm Falls to Greyhounds

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team was in action today as they fell to the University of Indianapolis, 16-6.   

The first five minutes of the game was a scoreless battle, before the Greyhounds scored twice, to take a 2-0 lead.  The Storm responded when Anastasia Crawford (Corning, N.Y. / Corning Painted Post East) found the back of the net off of an assist by Hana Abu-Kwiek (Lewis Center, Ohio / Olentangy Orange).  The Greyhounds answered with two goals, and took a 4-1 advantage with 16 minutes remaining in the first half.  The Storm answered when Haley Andersen (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado) scored an unassisted goal with less than 15 minutes remaining in the half. The Greyhounds scored three straight goals to end the half and took a 7-2 advantage into the intermission.   

The Storm opened the scoring a little over a minute into the second half when Kaci Asper (Syracuse, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse / Onondaga) scored off of an assist by Emma Miller (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor).  After  over five minutes of scoreless action the Storm broke the drought with a goal by Kayla Bohn (Louisville, Ky. / Eastern) off of an assist by Mallory Quiggle (Lewis Center, Ohio / Olentangy), to cut the Greyhounds lead to 7-4.  The Greyhounds scored two goals with a little under 12 minutes remaining and took an 9-4 advantage. The Storm answered when Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) found the back of the net off of a free position shot.  A. Spin scored her second goal of the game, and cut the Greyhounds lead to 9-6.  The Greyhounds scored seven straight goals and won 16-6.       

Spin led the Storm offense as she had two goals and three groundballs.  Cecilia Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) also pitched in for the Storm as she had five draw controls and 4 groundballs.    

Lake Erie will return to action Sunday (April 3rd) as they host McKendree University at 12 P.M.
