Storm Ends Season With Hillsdale Loss

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Lake Erie College football team closed the curtain on the 2016 regular season with the final game as a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Storm fell to future GMAC partner, Hillsdale College 42-10 on Saturday (Nov. 12).

Lake Erie opened the game with the ball and scored on their first drive. When the drive stalled, Austin Baker (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) converted a 33-yard field goal. Baker's kick made it 3-0 Lake Erie.

Hillsdale answered with a two-yard touchdown run from Joe Reverman. In the final minute of the first quarter, Chance Stewart found Trey Brock for a 20-yard touchdown pass. The Chargers led 14-3 after the first quarter.

Reverman scored again with a two-yard touchdown run with 28 seconds left in the first half. Stewart found Brock again for a 36-yard score on the final play of the half. Hillsdale led 28-3 at the intermission.

Reverman scored the third two-yard touchdown of the game in the third quarter, making it 35-3 Chargers.

The Storm opened the fourth quarter with a scoring drive. John Banyasz (Columbia Station, Ohio / Columbia) found the end zone on a three-yard touchdown run. Baker's extra point made the score 35-10.

Hillsdale completed the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown pass in the final two minutes of the game.

Banyasz completed 24 of his 35 passes for 212 passing yards. He also had 41 yards and a score on the ground.

Demarco Rojas (Owings, Md. / St. Mary's Ryken) was the leading receiver for the Storm with five catches for 51 yards.

Isaiah Wheeler (Copley, Ohio / Copley/Stark State) and Maurice Hale (Columbus, Ohio / Beechcroft) led the Storm with eight tackles each.
