Box Score UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Lake Erie College volleyball team was defeated today by Saginaw Valley St. in four sets, (25-12, 25-23, 25-11, 25-15). With the loss the Storm falls to 5-15 overall and 1-10 in the conference and with the win the Cardinals improve to 17-5 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
Lake Erie was competitive early in the first set but Saginaw Valley St. was able to regain their footing and won the first set, (25-12). The Storm fell behind early in the second set before they were able to rally and overtake the Cardinals in the second frame, (25-23). Saginaw Valley St. took the next two sets to win the match, (25-11, 25-15).
Offensively, Lake Erie was led by Madison Russell (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) who had a team high 11 kills. In addition to Russell, Leondra Barrett (Chattanooga, Tn. / Ooltewah) and Crystal Kedroske (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) each had eight kills in the match.
Defensively, the Storm was led by Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) who had a team high 14 digs in the match. Also pitching in on defense was Alexis Thomas (Cincinnati, Oh / Fairfield) who had eight digs in the match.
Lake Erie will be back in action Tuesday (October 27th) when they host Central St. at 6 P.M.
