Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio— The Lake Erie College women's soccer team played Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Walsh University to a scoreless draw Sunday (Oct. 11).
Both defenses stood stout in the first half, limiting the offenses to just a couple shots without scoring opportunities.
The defensive theme continued into the second half. In the closing minutes of regulation Elizabeth Roesch (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) had a pair of shots but was unable to find the back of the net, sending the game into overtime.
The Cavaliers outshot the Storm 5-2 in the first overtime session but the Storm defense held strong. The Storm outshot the Cavaliers 3-1 in the second session but was unable to find the back of the net, ending the contest in a draw.
Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio/Lake Catholic) started in net for the Storm, making six saves.
Roesch led the Storm with four shots. Marlena Lesniowski (London, Ont./Catholic Central High) and Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) had three shots apiece.
The Storm is back in action Oct. 16 at home against Tiffin University.
